This post gives you 5 practical tips on how to stop living in fear.

Have you ever wondered why all the things we fear always come into our lives?

Be it bills or any other personal life issues.

When we fear, that frequency aligns with you.

This means that the higher power you believe in sees it as what you want and brings it to you.

Honestly, it is a blind intelligence.

And it will bring to you what you focus on.

That’s how it gets to be fair to everyone on this planet.

If you are tired of fear taking all the precious moments from you, then you have come to the right place.

Now you might be saying to yourself, Come on, tell me, how do I stop living in fear?

Here are 5 useful tips that you can apply to live fearlessly.

1. Put a label on it

You might be wondering why you need to name your fears.

Assume you are going to a contest.

You would need to know the names of your opponent or their team at the very least.

This gives you clarity on what you need to work on.

This helps you cut time.

When you walk into the field without a goal, the fears will just have their way.

To have an upper hand, know them by name.

For instance, it can be that you fear public speaking or even feel that thin sweat trickling down your spine every time you check your mail because you’re afraid of more bills.

Once you’ve noted these fears down (yes, it can be more than one fear), acknowledge how you feel.

By doing this, the intensity of the fear reduces because you are now conscious of it.

You will also be able to regulate your emotions more if these fears are labelled.

Saying them out loud or writing them down on a piece of paper works fine.

I will say that this is not an easy process for everyone.

If you find yourself avoiding the fear or acknowledging it, just know IT IS TIME!

The ‘monster’ has grown too big and is trying to scare you every time.

Now this is what you do.

  1. Make yourself familiar with it – makes it less scary
  2. Get to know its source
  3. Work things from the bottom – focus on healing/dealing with its source
  4. Dispel it from your system – make it know you are the boss

The process might seem easy, but it requires time and effort on your part.

Plus loads of positive beliefs.

The benefit of it all is that it will help you perceive the fear.

This will be great because it will encourage you to slow down anytime such an event happens.

So, you will have the power to respond however best you feel.

2. Do it in small steps – don’t force yourself to get rid of fear instantly

I will not lie to you and say something absurd like ‘how to stop living in fear in 3 hours’ lol!

This is an entire process that is literally about working on yourself as a person.

We all learn in different ways, and this means that our paces differ as well.

Therefore, please face these fears in small, manageable steps.

It will desensitize your nervous system.

Use this example to understand this step better –

If you get a new animal, the first thing you do is try to build a bond with it.

In reality, you are exposing the animal to a new environment, showing them what your place is like and how things work.

This is literally gradually exposing them so that they get confident to hang around your property.

The same thing goes for your nervous system.

You have been used to living in fear, and you want to stop.

So, you expose yourself to steps that help you face your fears one by one.

In the example of the bills in the mail that I mentioned before, you can think of it like people make donations to you every month.

Instead of seeing the bill as a burden and trembling to check it, see it as money coming in and not going out.

Gradually, you will have the confidence to check your mail without even worrying or panicking.

This is how you face your fears.

From there, you can apply any other appropriate steps you believe will be effective for you.

3. Stop catastrophic thinking

We have all been here thinking about worst-case scenarios in our heads.

I bet 99% of these thoughts never happen and never will.

But, they make your quality of life worse.

If you are here and find it very hard to stop, you can implement a physical/verbal cue that pulls you out of it.

These can be ‘stop’ ‘giiirll/booyyy, what?!’

You can choose whichever works best for you.

Catastrophic thinking is also bad for your health because it makes anxiety worse.

This means that even dealing with everyday activities becomes hard.

So, to get rid of fear, you have to work on stopping catastrophic thoughts.

This is deeply rooted in negative thought patterns.

Someone might find themselves dwelling on the negative outcomes for every situation in their life.

It might be something as simple as talking to the boy/girl they like.

But they think of how they will get laughed at or trip, or even some bizarre negative outcome.

This further cements fear into their lives.

What’s even worse is that catastrophic thoughts prolong physical pain.

If you had a toothache and had such thoughts, trust me, your pain will be 100 times worse.

Furthermore, this will only make your problem-solving skills worse.

Seeing this, it is important to look at this as one of the foundational elements of fear.

So, working on it is a must-do in your journey on how to stop living in fear.

4. Limit exposure to fear-based information

I am literally on rooftops shouting my lungs out on this one.

Reduce your exposure to sensationalized news, be it on social media or from the news bulletin.

This also goes for doomscrolling.

Let’s be honest, these habits will do you no good because.

They only validate fear as a part of your life.

Doomscrolling, for instance, will only lead you to feeding on negative news.

Trust me, you don’t need to consume such negative content.

It will do you no good.

In addition, you might develop anxiety and depression, or make them worse if you have these conditions already.

Panic attacks can also be triggered.

There is a wide range of negative effects of doomscrolling and consuming sensational news.

I’ve only listed a tiny bit of the tip of the iceberg lol.

You’ll have a lot of uncertainty when you consume such content.

The reality is that such behaviors are symptoms of brain rot.

If you are to live a fearless life, these must get out of your life.

You will be able to achieve so much more in all aspects of your life.

Of course, this can only happen when fear is totally out of your reality.

5. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness practices can help you heal in many ways.

This also goes for working on fear.

Look at it like training a wild animal that you just rescued, and it has nowhere else to go.

Obviously, you will first work on taming it.

If this is not done, the animal might be a danger to you and others in your environment.

So, mindfulness is what tames the fear in your life.

Having habits like journaling, breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga can literally save your life.

You will gain a superpower because all the stressors and fears in your life will be easy to deal with.

During such practices, the first thing is to affirm yourself and build confidence.

Honestly, without this, it will be harder to dispel the fears.

I mentioned in the beginning that labelling your fears is the first step.

For mindfulness, you will use the fears that you labeled and familiarize yourself with them.

What this will do is make it easier to put an end to them.

If money problems are what bring about your fears, you can start affirming how abundant you are.

At first, you will feel like a fraud.

But with time, you will be able to believe this through repetition.

It’s like training your brain.

Something trained becomes a habit.

And so will be your new feeling.

You will gain the ability to walk new paths that might have seemed too ambitious for you.

This is the best part because your newfound freedom in thought and lifestyle will make you even happier.

It starts from the inside and then radiates to the outside.

So don’t go looking for external things or people to make you feel better about your fears.

Conclusion

Here’s a recap –

  1. Label your fears
  2. Do things in small steps first, don’t overdo or force it
  3. Stop catastrophic thinking
  4. Limit exposure to sensational news and doomscrolling
  5. Practice mindfulness

With these tips, you are guaranteed to start your journey to living a fearless and fulfilling life.

You got this!

Till next time, xoxo
