How to Become More Secure in Yourself

Introduction
This post provides helpful tips on how to become more secure in yourself.
If you’ve been struggling with insecurities and constantly doubting your abilities, you’ve come to the right place.
There are different reasons why this might have come up. But whatever they are, this is a no-judgment space that is growth-oriented.
1. Don’t lie to yourself

The worst thing you could ever do when dealing with insecurities is lie to yourself.
Honesty is important because you must first figure out why you are insecure and know the triggers.
This is the starting point for getting rid of insecurities.
First, ask yourself, “Why do I feel insecure?” “What makes me feel this way? How often do I feel this way? “
Of course, there are many other questions that you can ask yourself.
Most importantly, they should help you get to the root cause of the insecurities.
Well, now, you will not make up answers to make yourself feel better.
This will only give more strength to these feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness.
Even though it might be painful to do or admit, you must face the truth.
Identifying triggers – Example step by step process
If scrolling on social media triggers your insecurities, write that down. That’s a start.
Think of something like a decision tree.
Scrolling on social media is the trigger in our given example. Then, write down below how it makes you feel.
Now you see progress.
After identifying how it makes you feel, write down why it makes you feel that way.
By now, the underlying issue will be clearer to you. This will ensure that you deal with it now that you know it.
To recap,
- Identify the trigger,
- Identify how it makes you feel,
- Identify why it makes you feel that way,
- BINGO! Now you get to the underlying issue.
2. Focus more on what makes you feel awesome

Seriously, don’t undermine what this can do for you!
If there is something that you love to do, do more of that.
It doesn’t have to be anything over the top. Something as simple as getting your hair done or steaming your clothes can elevate your self-confidence.
The little things that you feel comfortable doing would surprise you.
For instance, if you love gardening, just being out in the sun, weeding or planting could affirm your value.
Doing what makes you feel good creates a pattern of ‘feel good’ emotions. This is the beginning of seeing your own value.
When you start creating those pathways, it becomes common. Before you know it, you are feeling good 99% of the time.
3. Believe in yourself

It all starts with you. You have the power to become more secure.
When you speak positivity into your life, you have a better chance at being more self-confident. This then gets rid of insecurities.
You might be wondering, how do I start being kind to myself?
One of the most important things is to ensure that you believe in yourself.
The power of self-belief
This might sound generic, but you are the creator of your life, anything you consider true becomes so.
You will start small and then progress to the bigger things to do this successfully.
For instance, if your goal is to be the best in your class or work but your current position is not the best, set small goals.
This can improve your grade from a C to a B.
When you are dealing with insecurities, you have to set a believable goal.
In the given example, you cannot just say you want to go from a C to an A+.
This will be hard to attain because your subconscious will have a hard time believing it.
However, improving from a 45 to a 50 is entirely believable.
Things might be slow at first, but imagine all the progress you have made over time; you will have reached your goal.
This also works for losing weight or cutting bad habits.
Let me know if these are topics that you would love to hear about. I have many pointers that are proven to work (based on personal experience).
In this case, the goal is to get rid of insecurities. I recommend you identify something positive about yourself that you can believe in.
Take the chance on any small improvement that is believable.
Soon you will be strutting with confidence because no one and nothing can take you down. You will be more secure in yourself. YOU believe in YOURSELF!
4. Surround yourself with positive people and environments

Imagine being in a space where you are constantly criticized.
Ugh!
This is such a confidence killer and it makes you start doubting yourself.
When self-doubt creeps in, all the insecurities come rushing.
So, please surround yourself with positive people and environments.
You need people who build you, not crumble your personality piece by piece.
Positivity helps you be comfortable in public and boosts your self-belief.
At this point, we have already established that belief is a key point in taking down insecurities.
So, you can thrive when you have a community that supports you.
It does not matter whether it is one person or 10, whether online or in real life.
This will help you appreciate more things about yourself that you would notice.
You will find that you love doing what you do and you have become more secure in yourself.
This is because you validate yourself. Then your positive environment supports you instead of being overly critical.
To find positive people and environments, you must pay attention to how you feel.
If you are around someone and you feel uncomfortable or want to be perfect all the time, RUN!
This is someone who takes from you instead of balancing the energy between giving and taking.
There are people who we feel comfortable around and don’t feel drained at all. They actually charge and inspire us.
So, you should assess how you feel if you are unsure what a positive environment is supposed to be like.
The secret is always in the feeling. Like they say, always trust your intuition.
Conclusion
You now have everything it takes to be more secure with yourself.
To recap,
- Don’t lie to yourself.
- Focus more on what makes you feel awesome
- Believe in yourself
- Surround yourself with positive people and environments
I wish you all the best, and I know now you can become more secure in yourself.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment, and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
Bye for now!
