What You Can ACTUALLY do This Summer: 15 Fun Activities

Introduction
Are you bored of the basic generic stuff you ‘have’ to do every summer?
This post provides 15 fun activities that you will actually want to do. It’s a need!
Let’s get real. You don’t want to do the same thing over and over every summer, do you?
On the other hand, after the first 20 or 30 days of summer, you’ll be bored out of your mind.
So, what do you do on the remaining days? There are literally 50 or 60 days left!
Summer is too hot to be outdoors all the time, so you can try switching your favorite activities to nighttime if they happen outdoors.
Also, I believe activities that don’t require you to be up and about in the sun are the best.
1. Night Hikes

This is great because hiking during the day is just not it. It’s too hot. Get a view of LA or the starry night. Trust me, it will be more fun at night.
For instance, night hikes in LA can be quite fun. I mean, it is so exciting at night.
I am a big hiker, and I love the calmness that the night brings about.
The crickets and starry nights are great, but the mosquitos sometimes kill the vibe, lol. So remember to pack enough repellant.
This can also be a great idea for fun summer activities for teens.
Just ensure that you are not alone or without an adult you trust or professional guide supervision for safety reasons.
2. Bring your dreams to life, or at least work on them during summer

If you have a passion that you would want to bring to life, summer is the perfect time to do it.
You will have a lot of time during summer.
Let’s say you have always wanted to start a small business; summer gives you a chance.
You will have plenty of time to work on it.
I also remember that during summer, I would work on business plans or even learn a new activity that would earn me extra cash.
I always found it better in terms of marketing.
For you, this would boost your reach because
3. Barbecue

Summer is great to have a barbecue in the backyard with friends or family.
It’s a fun social activity, and since the weather is good, setting up the backyard sounds really cool.
Imagine barbecuing in winter! It would be a disaster. No one wants to be outside in the cold.
So, BBQ in summer is realistically better because it is warmer.
Extra points if there is a pool. It would allow you and your friends to cool off the summer heat.
4. Explore your local area

If you are on a budget or aren’t in a long vacation mood, you can explore your local area.
Since most people are traveling at the time, you can target areas where tourists haven’t been yet.
It can be fun since you get all the space, time, and quiet to explore.
If you are unsure of where to go, you can Google “fun summer activities near me.”
Also, you can ask around from the locals, your neighbors, or friends/family.
5. Catch up with friends or make new ones

It can be quite challenging to stay alone during this period.
But, some prefer this, and they enjoy their own company.
You can try to catch up with friends or even make some new ones.
Furthermore, most of the group activities you will be doing will require you to be around others.
So, reach out to a friend that you haven’t seen in a while.
I always find catching up on all the juicy stuff life brings about pretty exciting.
6. Do a creative project, draw, etc.

I am a living testimony of doing a creative project in the summer.
For instance, I started this blog because it allows me to use my experiences to help others.
It is something I have found to be rewarding, especially because I love writing.
Please, I’m begging you, let your creativity run free. Whether you enjoy poetry, design, fashion, or other forms of art, summer has many possibilities.
Who knows, maybe someday in the near future, your creativity will bring you a substantial income.
7. Reading

This is such a relaxing activity.
Reading helps your imagination come out.
Picture this: you are in a park, the birds are singing, and the sun is just right.
Or being in a cozy spot that you enjoy.
Furthermore, there are many options to choose from.
You can do it the classic way and read a paperback book or choose an eBook or audiobook.
What this does is it helps you maintain your reading skills and even improve them.
During summer, there can be a ‘slide.’
If you are a student, it is possible to lose reading skills.
8. Work, lol

Well, work is fun, right? Lol
This is the best time to get in those extra hours.
If you have been looking for extra cash, summer is a great time to work and save up for your goals.
Whatever you want to get, you now have a 1001% chance to get it done.
During the other seasons, life, work, and school, independently or combined, can be challenging to juggle.
Therefore, work, work, and work! All best.
9. Vacation

As we mentioned before, summer heat can be extreme.
A vacation is one solution to it.
It’s the best time to regain confidence, explore, and get away from the demanding activities of life.
I remember during my summer vacation days back in school, I loved going on picnics and parks.
But there were those days that I felt I couldn’t go out because I would be a human BBQ, haha.
I remember a time we vacationed in East Africa, and it was a blast.
It was surprisingly cold in some parts, but I found relief on the beaches.
This was epic, but if you are on a budget, you can try something in your local area.
There are so many vacation spots to choose from.
10. Volunteering

If you are in high school, this can boost your college application.
Volunteering is always a win-win situation. You benefit, and the other parties benefit as well.
This can be at your local women/homeless shelter or even a clean-up event.
You see, the people in your community benefit, and you feel fulfilled.
For me, volunteering has always been my go-to whenever I find time.
It might be because I am a member of a humanitarian organization, but I enjoy it anyway.
It is one reasonable activity that you can do this summer.
And, bonus points if you love taking part in such activities because this will charge you.
11. Attend music gigs

If this is your thing, this can be fun, and you get to meet new people and have new experiences.
But, if you usually feel shy in big crowds, you can try this as a challenge.
This is a sure way to work on your confidence.
Furthermore, it is a chance to try new things and hang out with friends.
This is also tied to catching up with friends or making new ones (we talked about this before xx).
12. Paint outside

This is not something that you would get to do outside on a regular during winter.
You can do this in the shade.
If it is still too hot, bring a portable fan with you.
Painting is relaxing, and you can be creative and fun.
Doing it with a friend is fun, too.
I have done this severally with my friends.
We’re not professional painters and it’s always hilarious how we paint each other or whatever we have decided to focus on.
Please try it, too, and let me know how you like it.

13. Learn something new

With all the time you have, you can do something that you have always wanted to do.
Like voice lessons or classes in math, science, and programming.
It doesn’t have to be a rigid thing or something you are unmotivated to do.
Let it be something that you think you might enjoy.
Plus, don’t feel guilty if you get bored and want to start something else.
What matters the most is you.
Well, plus the joy or fulfillment you feel doing what you choose.
14. Attend a festival or farmers’ market

These are always around the corner during summer.
You will not have to spend a fortune to get to one.
For instance, people are more conscious of what they eat.
So there will be a farmers’ market in your local community.
It is a way to support the local economy because the farmers will have fresh produce to sell.
For festivals, choose something that aligns with your interests.
This will guarantee that you won’t get bored when you’re there.
The whole point of this is to have fun.
15. Go on a day trip

This might actually be the best thing ever!!
For example, if you are in New York, you can try looking up a day trip from NYC.
It will give you a rough idea of where you can go and fun activities.
In our example day trip from NYC, you can consider Philadelphia, Fire Island, and more, depending on your preferences.
Conclusion
There you go!
You are now equipped with 15 activities you can actually do during summer.
No need to stress when figuring out what you can do.
Bye, that’s all for now.
Until next time, love, Brenda.
